This work reveals itself through a process of accumulation and erasure, its surface bearing the history of repeated reworking. Layers have been built, scraped back, and reconsidered, leaving behind a tactile record of decisions—an archaeology of paint where earlier gestures subtly persist beneath the final composition.
In the upper left, a brown oblong form rests with quiet weight above a fully realized red field along the left edge. This area feels resolved, dense, and grounded. From this concentrated zone, the composition opens outward: the right half of the painting expands into a broad white space, creating a striking contrast between saturation and restraint.
Interrupting this openness, a small section of collage emerges on a dark brown ground near the edge of the white field. This fragment acts as a point of tension—an insertion of material and memory that resists the calm of the surrounding space. It draws attention not only to itself, but to the transitions between elements: painted and constructed, opaque and exposed, deliberate and discovered.
