La Trimouille

A solitary figure emerges through a field of shifting colour—reds, blues, greys, and flashes of yellow and green—suggesting more than they define. At the centre, a woman stands in the quiet act of preparing a cocktail, her presence both grounded and elusive. Her black hair frames only the faintest glimpse of her face, withholding identity and inviting projection.

Rather than rendering detail, the painting leans into abstraction: blocks of colour construct the space as much as they dissolve it. The figure appears suspended between clarity and obscurity, caught in a moment that feels both intimate and distant. The everyday gesture of mixing a drink becomes something contemplative, almost ritualistic.

In its small scale, the work draws the viewer closer, asking for attention to nuance—how colour, absence, and suggestion can evoke a presence more powerful than precise depiction.
